Rexam, the world’s largest producer of Beverage Cans, trusts A.C.T. to manage their EHS Audit programme for their 25 production facilities in Europe & Asia.
Rexam have been innovative in their approach to improving their EHS performance, including the application of Behavioural Safety and Lean manufacturing techniques. Accordingly the aim of the audit programme is to promote “world class” EHS performance throughout their global operations.
Delivery of this audit programme presents various challenges. In particular in this specialist industry the auditor has to quickly understand the intricacies of complex manufacturing equipment, processes, and working practises. In addition it is also necessary to have an appreciation of the challenge of applying EHS standards in a diverse range of legislative and cultural regimes.
This programme has been running in its current form for over three years, and we have supported Rexam with Risk Management services for over ten years. During this period the client has successfully opened new plants, and integrated acquisitions into their portfolio. At the same time they have also seen their lost time incident rate significantly reduced. Some sites have not recorded a lost time accident for over 1000 days.
If you would like explore how we could assist your organisation in improving their EHS performance please do not hesitate to contact us.

A.C.T. was approached by emh group to develop a specific risk assessment training course for their Officers and Management Teams. Working in the UK housing sector, emh group have a number of specific and generic work place hazards within their domain of Employer responsibility.
Carolyn Allin, emh group Health & Safety Manager, says:
“A generic risk assessment course was sufficient to meet our needs. Our Colleagues interact with a number of hazards which are quite unique to the Social Housing Sector. We approached A.C.T. to help us develop and deliver a course which derived real term benefits for our delegates and to help us with part of our risk management implementation policy.
We were really pleased when A.C.T. suggested that we have the course accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health. We feel that this gives the course greater credibility for a perspective of corporate governance and a sense of achievement for those who undertake the programme.
A.C.T. liaised with IOSH throughout the process and developed assessment criteria based around our specific needs (including the use of our own risk assessment templates as part of the course’s project assessment.)
We have had positive feedback from the course and I believe that talking to people about what they do on a day to day basis is both refreshing and essential.”
